Koh Phangan is about two-thirds the size of Koh Samui with a mix of sandy coves and rugged forested interior. Two-thirds of Koh Phangan is taken up by a long mountain ridge which is covered with a dense tropical rain forest and still relatively unexplored. On one side of Koh Phangan, the mountains drop steeply into the sea while on the other side has picturesque bays with snowy white sandy beach.

Koh Phangan is located in the middle of the gulf of Thailand. It is about 70 km. from the mainland and about 15 km. from Koh Samui. Pha-ngan is the largest of Samui’s neighboring islets with an area of 168 sq km. Over 70% of its total area are mountains and tropical forest. Lowlands are beaches and coconut fields.

Access: The easiest way to Phangan is by Bangkok Airways stopped at Koh Samui, then take a boat of Songserm Express at Na Thon pier or Lomphraya high-speed boat at Bangrak pier to Thong Sala pier at Koh Phangan.

Alternatively, you can choose the access by bus or train stopped at Surat Thani province, then take a ferry of Songserm Express at Tha Thong pier or Racha Ferry at Ferry Donsak port.

Climate:  

February – May: Clear sky, blue sea, the best time of the year.
Average temperature is between 26 – 32C.

June – January: Sunshine and light wind. Rough Sea and heavy rain between
September to November.

Koh Phangan is also very famous for its Full Moon Party, for which people and DJ come from over the world every month. Several tables are set upon Haad Rin and thousand of lamps are lit. You will find all kinds of music here.

Full Moon Party: Rin Nok beach or Haad Rin Nok, Koh Phangan is well known among Thai and foreigner tourists for its Full Moon Party. This spot is ranked as the third most beautiful spot in the world to view the full moon. That is why a great number of tourists from all over the world flock here to take part in the famous celebration every full moon night. Several tables are set upon Haad Rin and thousand of lamps are lit.
